MEZCAL TOUR OF OAXACA, OCTOBER 2 – 10, 2009  

 

                                  Cost, terms, and conditions     

  1. INCLUDES A MINIMUM OF:

 

    1. attendance at four (4) different types of mezcal facilities in or near the Central Valleys of Oaxaca, showcasing production using different levels of sophistication, ranging from traditional centuries old simple techniques, to the most modern state-of-the-art technologies;
    2. visit to a rural setting to witness the early morning harvest of pulque, with discussion regarding production, fact and lore regarding its properties;
    3. visit to a rural setting to discuss harvest of agave espadín and watch as a campesino cuts and extracts the plant from the ground;
    4. keynote speaker;
    5. cooking class with renowned Oaxacan chef, using mezcal in one or more recipes;
    6. city tour and welcoming luncheon;
    7. visit to traditional town weekend marketplace (Tlacolula);
    8. black pottery (barro negro), rug (tapete) and carved wooden animal (alebrije) demonstrations;
    9. city sampling throughout the duration of the tour, and visit to Casa de Mezcal;
    10. optional tasting of a broad variety of Mexican beer;
    11. six (6) lunches (comidas);
    12. two (2) dinners (cenas);
    13. breakfast each morning (assuming that your accommodation is with a member of the Oaxaca Bed & Breakfast Association);
    14. tour of the state’s most well – known and majestic pre-Hispanic ruin, Monte Albán;
    15. all transportation and guide services for the tour’s duration, for the events noted and arranged;
    16. recommendations regarding sights, restaurants, museums and galleries for free time throughout the duration of the tour;
    17. discounts for up to 10 days prior to, during, and 10 days after the tour at members of the Oaxaca Bed and Breakfast Association (http://www.oaxacabedandbreakfast.org)  and for Spanish language classes for up to two weeks prior to and two weeks after the tour at Becari Spanish Language School  (http://www.becari.com.mx).

 

 

  1.  TOTAL COST PER PERSON, INCLUSIVE OF TAX,  $1160.00 USD

 

  1.   COST DOES NOT INCLUDE:

 

    1. transportation to and from Oaxaca, or transfers to and from airport or bus terminal to or from accommodations or otherwise;
    2. accommodation charges;
    3. meals, food, beverages except as noted  in 1), above;
    4. tips and gratuities;
    5. any and all costs, expenses, fees except as noted in 1), above.

    

  1. DEPOSIT:

 

A reservation shall be deemed confirmed upon receipt of the sum of $250 USD per person, payment of the said amount as follows:

  1.  CANCELLATION POLICY:

 

    1. tour organizers in their sole discretion shall have the right to cancel the tour prior to August 16, 2009, in which case all deposit moneys received by them for the tour shall be fully refunded;
    2. refund is explicitly exclusive of any and all payments made by participants to airlines, bus companies, lodgings, etc, and refers only to the deposit referred to above;
    3. in the event of cancellation of the tour, Casa Ollin undertakes to offer discounted lodging for the duration of the participant’s visit, (maximum stay for two weeks prior to and two weeks after the tour’s set dates as set out above), and the tour organizers undertake to offer two courtesy days of touring the Central Valleys of Oaxaca (including visits to at least two mezcal operations), dates subject to guide availability;
    4. in the event of cancellation by a participant or participants, deposit(s) paid shall be forfeited and remain the sole property of the tour organizers, regardless of reason or circumstance,
    5. tour organizers reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to limit the number of tour participants.

 

  1. TOUR ITINERARY: 

 

                 A final and definitive tour itinerary shall be emailed to each participant to the
email address(es) provided to the tour organizers, no later than July 1, 2009,
subject to change in the event of unforeseen circumstances in the sole
discretion of the tour organizers.

 

  1. LIABILITY:

 

Tour organizers, their associates, partners, heirs, assigns, employees and / or  related companies or individuals shall not be held liable under any circumstance for any loss, damage or expense no matter how occasioned and payment of the deposit by participant or on his/her behalf shall be deemed an acknowledgement of this and all terms and shall be construed as a bar against commencing or continuing any claim, demand or action relating to any alleged breach of contract, tort, or mal/misfeasance by any and all tour organizers or their associates, partners, etc.
